WHAT IS AVID ANYWAY?
Advancement Via Individual Determination
AVID is a program designed to assist students in the middle who want more. These students are unique because they have average to high test scores (especially in math) with academic potential and a desire and determination to complete a 4-year degree, but may face obstacles that might block that path.
Some traits new AVID students have:
- Proficient to Advanced test scores
- 2.0 - 4.0 Academic GPA
- Potential to attend a 4-year university
- Desire and determination to succeed
Some traits new AVID students do not have:
- Issues with attendance
- Disciplinary problems
- Severe special needs
- Need for EL 1-3 support
AVID Mission Statement
The AVID mission is to prepare all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
