COUNSELING 100
This course is offered during the spring semester of senior year and meets once a week. Students must be on track to graduate and not need these credits for graduation. It is designed to introduce students to college and life success skills. It focuses on the attitudes, habits, and behaviors of successful college students.
SADDLEBACK COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Freshman Advantage Process: The Freshman Advantage program is for high school seniors planning to attend Saddleback College. This program offers new first-time college students the opportunity to apply early, complete the Matriculation Process early, receive an early Freshman Advantage registration date, and enroll in classes before the majority of new and continuing Saddleback students. Please see your Academic Advisor if you have questions about this program.
Transfer Programs: Saddleback College offers courses that fulfill lower-division general education and transfer major requirements in most areas of study. At Saddleback College you can complete your freshman and sophomore coursework and then transfer to the UC, CSU, or private/independent college of your choice.
Honors Program: The Saddleback College Honors program gives highly motivated students the opportunity to enhance their collegiate experience and develop superior academic skills. Successful completion of the honors program will also help open the door to most colleges and universities throughout the state and nation. For more information on the program, click here.
Certificate Programs: Students need only take courses in their field of interest in order to earn an occupational certificate from Saddleback College. The number of units required varies from certificate to certificate. For more information on programs offered, click here.

If you have plans to attend a community college after graduation, you should meet with your Academic Advisor to establish goals and complete a plan of action. It is also recommended that a student meet with a counselor at the community college upon matriculation to discuss goals for completing certificate programs, competing an Associates Degree, or participating in the transfer program to a four year university.
WHO CAN ATTEND A COMMUNITY COLLEGE?
A community college is a good choice for anyone who may want to attend a four-year school later but who is not yet academically, socially, or economically ready to begin study at a university. To be eligible to attend a community college, you must be 18 years of age, or possess a high school diploma. In the California Community Colleges, you can work toward an associate (two-year) degree in hundreds of academic and technical fields (which will enable you to transfer to a college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree); or, you can complete a one or two-year training or certificate program in a choice of occupational fields, various health professions, and/or high-technology job fields.
WHAT IF I WANT TO PURSUE A FOUR YEAR DEGREE, BUT ATTEND A COMMUNITY COLLEGE FIRST?
All community colleges offer courses that meet the lower-division (first two years) of a four-year college or university. Counselors in transfer centers and counseling offices at the community colleges can help you plan your community college program to make sure that the courses you select are transferrable. You should also check the requirements of the college or university to which you plan to transfer, especially in your major subject. Many community colleges offer written transfer guarantee programs to specific universities. This information can be found in the community college transfer center or counseling center.
